We arrived in the Netherlands on September 5th 2019, saddled with 36kg of luggage and 3 stuffed backpacks. This was going be just some of the supplies that we need to cram into 10 sq. meters of living space.

Istanbul
While Istanbul exists in two continents, Europe and Asia, it had more of an Eastern feeling than European. The contrast is stark, so the feel of the city was something novel for me at the time and upon revisiting over 20 years later, I still feel like it is a passage way to Asia. The vibe, the hustle and the bustle all solidified the idiosyncratic nature of the city.
The Night Train
I was encouraged to travel by train from an article that I read in the Guardian, which promoted the trip as one of the best trips for 2023 according to Lonely Planet. While I have traveled by train before, never in a sleeper carriage.
Maiden Voyage: Introduction
We had been planning this trip for over a year, since I first found out that he bought a boat. The idea was to buy this cheap boat and bring it back to Greece, so we could use it on the weekends with the kids. But as things usually go, life got in the way; time and money were scarce.
